Polkerris Sunset CornwallSummer may have been almost over but this year we were very lucky to have chosen perhaps the only complete week of sun. On the 2nd of September My wife, two children and   I headed down to the South West for a well earned week of fun and relaxation. The car filled to bursting with walking boots, warm jumpers and water proof clothing, plus a dining table  strapped to the roof with some old bits of wood and rope, made it down to our holiday destination without a hiccup. Even the traffic was kind to us.

On arrival at our home for the week (badgers set just outside of Liskeard) we were greeted by the owners who put on a spread of warm scones, jam and clotted cream. we quickly unpacked put the kettle on and relaxed in the warm early evening sun  feasting on our complimentary cakes. At this point we knew it was going to be a special week and it did not disappoint.

For the rest of the week we made the most of the surprising weather, visiting the beach eating lots of ice cream, much to the delight of our children, and even had a barbecue without even a hint of rain fall.

The last day however was by far the best and topped off a memorable week. we started off in Fowey, which is very nice. Karen my wife though had had enough of us all and wanted a bit of time alone, none of us were obliging though so we left feeling a little frustrated.

So we headed off to the beach, Polkerris was the destinations, it didn’t look much at first, only a few houses and a smart pubvand bar. Yet it was well sheltered with soft sand and clear pretty views. Here we all cooled off, played in the sea and searched the rock pools for crabs and tiny fish. It wa soon time to head home wso we packed and where about to leave but where seducted by the warm sun and everyone sat outside Sams on the beach. So we sat on the beach and enjoyed a drink in the sun and ordered pizza for us all. It was really tasty with a good choice of traditional toppings but with a twist. It was some of the best pizza i have had for a long time and would deffinately go back. Cooked in a stone oven with a real wood fire the pizza had a lovely smokey taste and was well cooked evenly across the whole pizza. While we sat outside the sun slowly dropped below the horizon turing the sky beautiful red and orange colours. We finished our meal with a couple of their delicious deserts, well worth the calories and said goodbye to the sun signing off on a fabulous week in sunny Cornwall.

Back to everyday life but with a added spring to my step as I continue planning the launch of Spitfire Bikes. Watch this space as over the next year I will be writing and publishing news and updates on my progress of my very own bike company.
